Here is a summary of what has happened so far. If you would like to know more about the events we hold and when upcoming events are then check out our website and social media.
At the end of September we held our very first international cultural fair. The event featured stalls by students from all around the world such as Scotland, England, Ireland, Malaysia, China and South Korea. The event was organised to help returning students and direct entrants get to know each other a bit more. The event offered a lot such as different types of treats, games, and the chance to learn new phrases. Overall, it was a huge success with a very large turnout and new connections were made by everyone who attended.
In late September we had ex SAS president Ley Kuan Law give an insightful talk about her experience of working in general insurance for AXA. The talk covered working in general insurance, general insurance vs life insurance and pensions, current issues in general insurance and she also gave her personal experience of working as an international student in the UK.
The start of the academic year can only mean one thing, the annual SAS bowling event. This was a great chance for members to meet some of our society and to make new friends by battling out for the highest score! Bowling was followed closely by our annual geek themed pub crawl. Luckily, we didn’t have to fork out much for and outfit since we just went out in our usual attire (I’m sure this joke has gotten old by now but it had to be done…I’m sorry).
