SAS Education 18/19

Working in conjunction with Heriot Watt's School of Mathematical and Computer Science, we provide revision sessions and mock exams for the most difficult subjects that you may encounter during your time at university.

We also set up workshops for discussing and teaching R techniques which is especially useful to the members who are unfamiliar with it. These sessions will be run by students rather than lecturers, giving an alternative perspective on challenging aspects.

SR214

This is an opportunity for all AMS/Maths students to form study groups and have the opportunity to interact with each other in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

The space will be there for you to meet, work and discuss maths together, and also learn from other students. Its up to you to decide how to use these sessions; e.g. for revision, solving tutorial exercises or just talking about maths with your friends.

A number of 3rd/4th year student peer mentors from AMS and Maths have kindly agreed to be available there every week, in order to give you help and advice in relation to their own knowledge, experience and learning.

Everyone is welcome!

AM.I.T : A different perspective to coding

12:15pm

·

DB114

SAS are putting on a lecture for you, to provide a different way of teaching R. The lecture will include breaking down the tasks you're given, problem solving and how to understand what you are coding without a computer.

This will be a great lecture put on by Amit (a 4th year MSAS student) who is a genius with coding. I strongly recommenced second and third years attend to help with your upcoming R projects. First and fourth years are also welcome as R and coding is used every day within the actuarial profession.
